1. Introduction
LocalUncle ("LocalUncle", "we", "us", or "our") operates the website localuncle.in and any related mobile applications (together, the "Platform"). LocalUncle is a hyperlocal home services marketplace that connects individuals looking for home services ("Seekers") with independent service providers such as maids, plumbers, electricians, cooks, carpenters, and handymen ("Providers").
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to all users of the Platform — Seekers, Providers, and visitors — anywhere in India.

By using the Platform, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information from Seekers
When you sign up or use the Platform as a Seeker, we collect:
- Name
- Phone number
- Email address
- Location/address (to match you with nearby Providers and for service delivery)
2.2 Information from Providers
When you sign up or use the Platform as a Provider, we collect:
- Name
- Phone number
- Government ID proof (for identity verification and trust/safety)
- Address
- Photos
- Ratings, reviews, and history of past work completed on the Platform
2.3 Information Collected Automatically
When you visit or use the Platform, certain information is collected automatically through analytics and advertising tools, including:
- Device and browser information
- IP address and approximate location
- Pages visited, time spent, and how you interact with the Platform
- Referral source (e.g., how you arrived at the Platform)

2.4 Payment Information
Payments on the Platform are processed through our third-party payment processor, Razorpay. We do not ourselves store your full payment card details, bank account details, or UPI credentials — these are collected and processed directly by Razorpay in accordance with its own privacy policy and applicable RBI/payment industry security standards. We may receive limited transaction-related information from Razorpay (such as payment status and amount) to confirm and record your booking.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage Seeker and Provider accounts
- Match Seekers with relevant, nearby Providers
- Facilitate booking, communication, and completion of services
- Verify Provider identity and maintain trust and safety on the Platform
- Send booking confirmations, OTPs, and service-related updates via SMS/call
- Respond to support requests sent to support@localuncle.in
- Improve the Platform through usage analytics
- Run and measure marketing campaigns (e.g., via Meta ads)
- Comply with applicable law
We do not use your personal information for any purpose incompatible with the above without asking for your consent first.
4. How We Share Your Information
We share information only in the following circumstances:
a. Between Seekers and Providers: To complete a booking, a Seeker's name, contact number, and address are shared with the Provider assigned to the job, and the Provider's name, contact number, and profile details (including ratings and past work) are shared with the Seeker. This sharing is necessary to deliver the service you've requested.
b. With service providers who help us operate the Platform:
- Twilio (or similar SMS/communication infrastructure) — to send OTPs, booking alerts, and call/SMS notifications, which requires sharing your phone number.
- Razorpay — to process payments made on the Platform, which requires sharing relevant contact and transaction information (such as your name, contact details, and payment amount) directly with Razorpay.
These providers are only given the information necessary to perform their function and are not permitted to use it for their own marketing purposes.
c. Legal and safety reasons: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or where necessary to protect the safety of our users or the integrity of the Platform.
d. Business transfers: If LocalUncle is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring (including conversion to a private limited company), or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy continuing to apply.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their independent marketing purposes.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel) to understand how the Platform is used and to run advertising campaigns. Full details, including how to manage or disable these, are in our Cookie Policy.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information, except where we are required to retain certain information for legal, accounting, dispute-resolution, or fraud-prevention purposes.
7. Your Rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and subject to applicable rules, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct or update inaccurate or outdated information
- Withdraw consent you previously gave, where processing is based on consent
- Request deletion of your personal information, subject to Section 6 above
- Raise a grievance regarding how your information is handled

8. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's Privacy
The Platform is not directed at, or intended for use by, individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us at support@localuncle.in and we will take steps to delete it.

This Policy is governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising out of or relating to this Policy shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in Chandigarh, India.
